This is another version of the mid-February 2007 Half Moon, created from tonemapping a 7-photo HDR composite photo. 7 camera raw exposures 1-stop apart were taken, then auto-aligned to produce a HDR photo file. The tonal range of the data in that file was subsequently shifted (compressed) with a tonemapping operator in Photomatix Pro. The result was this photo, a JPEG that was derived from a 16-bit TIFF photo that emerged immediately after processing in Photomatix Pro. This photo has some little problems, but it has a lot more color depth and edge-definition that a post-processed single photo does.
