Re: night time pinhole
Wed, November 1, 2006 - 3:14 PMI hav tried a few times with a pinhole attachment on my nikon using B & W film. In a few spots where I could leave the camera for extended times. My calculations including reciprocity failure resulted in an exposure time of 245 minutes. Not too many exposures a night, and very boring if you can't leave. This was in city, so light wasn't too dim. I tend to do more night shots with b and w film. Even with a wide aperture, I get exposure times of anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes. The pinhole attachment did result in a few fairly nice shots. Downside is there is no seeing through the pinhole to frame, and on my body, resulted in cutting some stuff out of the shots that I did want. Still, all in all quite fun.

Thu, November 2, 2006 - 8:23 AMI don't do film anymore, but check out this guy; the first pic in set - shows his equipment:

Any time I start hearing about people boasting about their very expensive new camera or that $500 tripod or the $2000 lens, I think of this guy.
I'm not saying that it wouldn't be nice to have the "best" gear, but I think amazing work can be done with the most elemental equipment.
(granted this fellow's pin-hole gear is top notch) -
